ASLO 2018 Summer Meeting

Water Connects!

Water connects everything and everyone! Water transcends and connects all spheres: the lithosphere, atmosphere, and biosphere – from fresh to salty, from microscopic to macroscopic. Water connects us to each other and to resources – across cultures and society, across politics and international boundaries. However, these elements are too frequently studied in isolation. This meeting will encourage you to bring your knowledge, curiosity, and creativity to connect with each other and to share your passion for water!

Victoria in the Summer!

Journey to Victoria, the Capital City of British Columbia for ASLO 2018! Victoria is well known for its temperate climate, natural beauty and awe-inspiring gardens. Because the city is located in a sub-Mediterranean zone, Victoria enjoys the mildest climate in Canada and offers a spectacular outdoor setting adorned with ocean views and mountain vistas. It has long been known as the “City of Gardens.” Plan your trip to allow time to enjoy Fisherman’s Wharf, Abkhazi Garden, Government House, Hatley Park National Historic Site, Butterfly Gardens, The Butchart Gardens, Beacon Hill Park, and The Gardens at HCP.

Victoria and surrounding British Columbia offer a variety of activities for everyone.  Marine wildlife, picturesque waterways, history, and architecture are just the start of possible explorations.  Downtown Victoria features historic buildings and sites that echo various eras and people of the past. History, art and culture of the Pacific Northwest abound with many venues, ranging from self-guided tours to reservations for planned activities.
