Summary of Position:

The Department of Biological Sciences at the University of New Hampshire invites applications for a tenure-track Biological Oceanographer at the Assistant Professor level. The successful candidate will be expected to teach Biological Oceanography and additional advanced courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels in her/his area of expertise. She/he will be expected to establish a strong, externally funded research program and to train graduate students, contributing to to UNH's strong marine biology, oceanography, and ocean engineering research enterprise. Preference will be given to candidates with expertise in coastal, estuarine, and marine processes that influence biological systems, especially in the context of climate change, ocean acidification, and other anthropogenic influences. DBS seeks applicants with lived experiences, research, and/or professional service informed by worldviews and/or perspectives about minority group status including race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, religion, and disability and who are committed to fostering a collaborative and diverse faculty, staff, and student environment at UNH .

Acceptable Minimum Qualifications:

A Ph.D. in Oceanography, Marine Biology, or other relevant field is required.

Additional Preferred Qualifications:

Preferred candidates are those with demonstrated expertise in areas that capitalize on UNH’s geographic proximity to the Gulf of Maine and the Great Bay Estuary and who can take advantage of existing marine research infrastructure, including the Coastal Marine Laboratory, Jackson Estuarine Laboratory, Shoals Marine Laboratory, and research vessel fleet that includes the R/V Gulf Challenger and a new Regional Class Research Vessel as part of the East Coast Oceanographic Consortium. Also preferred are applicants with the potential to establish cross-disciplinary research partnerships with faculty in other departments and the School of Marine Science and Ocean Engineering. Preference will be given to candidates who have an outstanding publication record, demonstrated grantsmanship skills, and the ability to innovate and teach a variety of courses, including laboratories, that fulfill academic needs of the Department of Biological Sciences.
