Assistant Professor of Biology (closes 1/15/2019)

The Department of Biology at Misericordia University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor position for appointment in Fall 2019. A Ph.D. in the Biological Sciences or closely related discipline is required with specialization in Marine Sciences or Marine Biology. Teaching responsibilities include introductory biology, marine biology and development of advanced courses in the field of expertise. Applicants must be prepared also to teach effectively introductory courses for biology majors as well as non-major core courses in which they prepare and deliver lectures; evaluate and grade students’ classwork and assignments; and initiate, facilitate, and moderate classroom discussions. Commitment to student engagement and effective communication skills are essential. Candidates must demonstrate potential for teaching excellence and an ability to develop and maintain a research program that leads to peer-reviewed publications and actively involves undergraduate students. The position requires 12 credits of teaching each semester, scholarship/research, academic advising, and participation in departmental and university service.
