Research Technician (closes 1/21/2018)

Bigelow Laboratory for Ocean Sciences is seeking a technician starting February 21, 2018 for full time employment. Applications should be received by January 15, 2018.

Applicants should have a Bachelor's degree and experience in biology, marine biology, oceanography or a related field, preferably with marine experience. Skills in basic laboratory protocols, chemical analyses, data collection, analysis and statistics are important. Familiarity with laboratory safety best- practices is essential. Other skills that are desired are experience with microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, sterile technique, algal culturing, and experience with Microsoft Windows computing platforms. Familiarity with Microsoft Excel is essential and experience with Ocean Data View and/or Python would be optimal. Skills in general laboratory maintenance, calibrations and inventory are also desirable.

Candidate must be able to do work at sea for periods up to 45 days and physically lift at least 50 pounds.
