The Juhl and Duhamel labs are looking to hire a lab and field technician at the level of Research Staff Assistant. Responsibilities will include operation and maintenance of a BD Influx flow cytometer cell sorter (which will include working with radioisotopes), analyses of raw flow cytometry data (i.e. cytograms), and nutrient analyses (especially phosphorus chemistry) of water samples. The individual must be able to participate in field campaigns on oceanographic research vessels. The technician will be responsible for the proper maintenance, alignment, and calibration of equipment, as well as packing and shipping of equipment and supplies for field research. Appropriate training will be provided for all tasks, but skills in microbiology and chemistry are required and some experience with flow cytometry preferred. Lamont Doherty Earth Observatory is located along the Hudson River near New York City and many members of the research staff live in NYC, or the surrounding metro area.
