Participate in the USA Science & Engineering Festival with ASLO!

On April 15-17, ASLO will once again participate in the USA Science & Engineering Festival at the Washington, D.C. Convention Center. This "Super Bowl of STEM" drew over 325,000 attendees over 3 days in 2014 and is expected to draw as many or more attendees this year AquaticInsects.  ASLO will be participating in the Consortium of Aquatic Science Societies (CASS) booth, along with fellow CASS members the Phycological Society of America, the Society for Freshwater Sciences, and the Society of Wetland Scientists. Local area volunteers are needed to help staff the CASS booth. Volunteers would need to be available at the CASS booth for 2-4 hours, talking with festival attendees and supervising booth activities such as building a plankton (to achieve neutral buoyancy), observing aquatic insects, modeling the effects of wetlands on filtering pollution, making colorful beads with alginate, and discussing careers in aquatic sciences with attendees. You can read about the 2014 CASS exhibit at the 2014 Festival here. Interested individuals should contact CASS Coordinator, Adrienne Sponberg ( for more information. All volunteers will receive a CASS t-shirt, some great aquatic science swag, and will enjoy this opportunity to share their love of aquatic science with the public.   [embed][/embed]
