Limnology and Oceanography

Limnology and Oceanography (print ISSN 0024-3590, online ISSN 1939-5590) is published in 6 issues per annual volume, and includes original articles and review papers about all aspects of limnology and oceanography. The journal's unifying theme is the understanding of aquatic ecosystems. Submissions are judged on the originality of their data, interpretations, and ideas, and on the degree to which they can be generalized beyond the particular aquatic ecosystem examined.

Limnology and Oceanography Bulletin

The Limnology and Oceanography Bulletin is published quarterly and contains up to 3 peer-reviewed Articles per issue, Letters to the Bulletin, and ASLO News (information for the ASLO membership). Articles for the Bulletin are short, should be of broad interest to the entire ASLO membership (and outside readers as well), and may cover such diverse topics as: new directions or methods in aquatic science; new findings on, or interpretations of a major topic; and political and educational issues/approaches.

Limnology and Oceanography: Fluids and Environments

Limnology and Oceanography: Fluids and Environments publishes interdisciplinary limnology and oceanography research focusing on the interactions of fluid, sediment, rock statics, and dynamics. Edited by Josef Ackerman, the journal explores the link between fluid dynamics and aquatic system processes, and appears in an online-only format.

Limnology and Oceanography: Methods

Limnology and Oceanography: Methods (ISSN 1541-5856) is published in annual volumes and will consider manuscripts whose primary focus is methodological, and that deal with problems in the aquatic sciences. Manuscripts may present new measurement equipment, techniques for analyzing observations or samples, methods for understanding and interpreting information, analyses of metadata to examine the effectiveness of approaches, invited and contributed reviews and syntheses, and techniques for communicating and teaching in the aquatic sciences.

Limnology and Oceanography e-Lectures

ASLO's electronic-format lectures ("e-Lectures") are prepared by experts on particular topics, both special and traditional, and are peer reviewed. They may be particularly helpful to ASLO members as they develop new courses, lecture on topics outside areas of expertise or when it is time to reenergize familiar lectures. The ASLO e-Lecture Series is intended to serve as a resource for member educators and researchers, to assist them in bringing the most recent and cutting edge science and non-traditional teaching techniques into undergraduate and graduate aquatic science courses. The series includes lectures relevant to both limnology and oceanography and will benefit not only ASLO members but also their student audiences.

Limnology and Oceanography e-Books

Electronic-format books are the latest addition to ASLO's portfolio of publications. "e-Books" first appeared more than 15 years ago, and many thousands of printed books now appear in electronic format as well. A growing number of books now appear in electronic format only. The World Public Library now lists more than 500,000 e-Books in 125 collections. The aquatic sciences have enthusiastically embraced electronic journals, but electronic books dealing with limnology and oceanography remain rare. ASLO's intention is to promote the aquatic sciences by embracing the publication of e-Books.

Ethics Articles

ASLO's Ethics Committee has provided an informal series of articles discussing issues that commonly face reachers and educators in the aquatic sicences.
