The Colors of Life
Assistant Professor position, Coastal Physical Oceanography, East
Carolina University

THE COLORS OF LIFE
Dear all, I was just talking with someone about the Colors of Life
site put together by a team using NASA SeaWifs data.
http://www.gsfc.nasa.gov/gsfc/earth/environ/carbon/carbon.htm
The site was developed to go along with a NASA Press Release a year
or two ago. It is a great site for use by students and for outreach.
That page has a really nice little "movie" that shows 3 years
worth of data (1997-2000) in just a couple of minutes. You can see
changes in both ocean and land color (correlated with productivity)
during an El Nino event. To see it, go to the "click here" section by
the map of the world.
It's a great teaching tool--one of the nicest little "gee whiz"
movies I've seen.
