ASLO Fellows Program

ASLO Fellows Program

The ASLO Fellows program was initiated last year to honor ASLO members who have advanced the aquatic sciences via their exceptional contributions to the benefit of the society and its publications, meetings, and other activities. We toasted our inaugural class in New Orleans and Santa Fe, but we know there are more of you out there who qualify but haven’t applied!  Members are the heart and soul of ASLO. You contribute to, review, and edit our journals. You organize and participate in sessions and workshops at our conferences. You lead our committees and represent ASLO and the aquatic sciences in education, policy and outreach activities. Simply put, ASLO would not exist without you!

The ASLO Fellows program recognizes individuals who have made exceptional contributions to the benefit of the society and its publications, meetings, and other activities. Fellows will receive a certificate and a letter to their institution (if requested). Fellows will be recognized via announcement at the next ASLO Business Meeting, in the L&O Bulletin, on the ASLO website, and via their badge at future ASLO meetings. Sustaining Fellows receive all of the above as well as a glass award in recognition of their sustained contributions.

The requirements for becoming an ASLO Fellow are listed below. Look around, think of your colleagues and their service and contributions to our field via ASLO and take a few moments to forward their name via the super-easy nomination process so that a deserving person might receive the recognition they deserves.  Also, look in the mirror!! Our goal in creating this program is to recognize and highlight our most outstanding and dedicated members, regardless of how we receive the information.  You know best if you match the criteria, the application process is the same whether nominated by someone else or not - so don’t be shy, apply today!

ASLO has many highly engaged members, so it will be wonderful to recognize the next class of ASLO Fellows in Hawaii at the 2017 Aquatic Sciences Meeting.
