Permission to make digital or hard copies of part or all of Limnology and Oceanography for personal or educational use is hereby granted without fee, provided that the first page or initial electronic display includes the notice "Copyright, 2002 by the American Society of Limnology and Oceanography, Inc.," (substitute the appropriate year of publication) along with the full citation, including the name(s) of the author(s). Copyrights for components of this work owned by other than ASLO must be honored.
Authors may post their articles to a personal web site and may make and distribute photocopies of such articles. Instructors may post up to 10 articles from L&O to a publicly available class web site, or an unlimited number of articles to a web site or other electronic media with access restricted to class use.
To copy or transmit L&O otherwise (i.e., to republish, to post on public web servers, to redistribute, to use any component in other works, or for commercial or promotional purposes) requires prior specific permission and possible fee. Permissions may be requested via an online form.
