The Aquatic Ecology Laboratory at Washington State University Vancouver, directed by Dr. Stephen Bollens and Dr. Gretchen Rollwagen-Bollens, has one or more paid assistantships available for new graduate students to contribute to a growing and dynamic program in Aquatic Ecology. Using high-resolution transmission electron microscopy to examine crystals from the bodies of small marine organisms called sea squirts, scientists have solved the mystery of the crystal structure of the mineral called vaterite.
