APECS  held their first workshop at the DACA-13 Davos Atmosphere and Cryosphere Assembly DACA-13, in Davos Switzerland July 7, 2013.  We had 25 early career scientists and mentors  from the Alpine and Cryosphere community.  We would like to give a huge thank you to the International Association of Cryospheric Sciences (IACS)  and the Climate Change and Cryosphere Project (CliC) for sponsoring this workshop and social event and the Snow and Avalanche Institute for hosting both events: http://www.slf.ch/. The workshop introduced early career researchers to both cryospheric and alpine sciences, as well as provided a panel session that was interactive with the early career  scientists and mentors. Though the participants were introduced to what APECS does, we also got an idea of the needs in the Alpine community that we will use to build a beneficial resource and network for this community.  We hope to increase our membership of alpine early career scientists so we can work together to share ideas and opportunities.
