Director, Green Economy & Sustainable Water Center (Grant Funded)
This position will provide leadership for two major efforts at CLC. First, the Director assumes overall responsibility for the Lake Michigan Center for Sustainable Water Center, including academic programs, indoor and outdoor facilities, internal and external outreach, and coordination of research and educational activities. During the start-up phase of the center, the Director will work collaboratively to ensure clear communication between internal and external constituents; create and promote key messaging about the center's mission; and leverage limited resources to create this center in prescribed phases. The second effort will focus on the development and delivery of programs and services designed to prepare both individuals and businesses for operating within a "Green Economy." The Director will work in collaboration with CLC faculty and staff, the Sustainability Coordinator, local/state government agencies, not-for-profits, members of the Illinois Green Economy Network (IGEN), and other organizations engaged in energy efficiency and conservation efforts. The Director will support efforts in Lake County that lead toward a prepared and well educated workforce with the skills necessary to support energy efficiency, conservation, and sustainable businesses and industries.
Required Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in Environmental Studies, Water Resource Management, or related field.
* Higher education, not-for-profit, or corporate experience.
* Experience developing and implementing new educational programs and services.
* Highly developed and effective oral and written communication skills.
* Strong organizational and project management skills, as demonstrated by work experience.
* Ability to travel locally and regionally.
