Environmental Laboratory and Field Technician
Coastal Carolina University is accepting applications for an Environmental Laboratory and Field Technician in Coastal Carolina University's Burroughs and Chapin Center for Marine and Wetland Studies. Position is a full-time annual appointment with benefits. This position will work with the Center's Environmental Quality Laboratory. This facility conducts research and monitoring in the coastal and inland waters of northeastern South Carolina.
Duties will include, but are not limited to: Field sampling, sample processing and analysis, quality control procedures, instrument calibration and data management. The following parameters are routinely measured: bacteria including: PCR methods, chlorophyll, nutrients, BOD, organic carbon, turbidity, TSS, color, pH, and alkalinity. Field measurements are made with in-situ meters.
Requirements: Bachelor's degree in science with two (2) years related job experience or equivalent education with extensive experience. Must also maintain a valid SC driver's license. Must be able to comprehend technical literature such as US EPA methods and to follow standard operating procedures and quality control practices. Must be proficient in use of Microsoft Word and Excel.
