Sr. Lab Tech/Research Assoc. (M.Sc.) Algal Physiology & Photobiology
SENIOR LAB TECHNICIAN OR RESEARCH ASSOCIATE (MS.S.) –
ALGAL PHYSIOLOGY & PHOTOBIOLOGY
Algenol is seeking to fill one full-time Senior Lab Technician
or Research Associate position in its Algal Physiology &
Photobiology Group to perform research aimed at
understanding and optimizing algal growth, photobiology
(dynamics of photosynthesis), nutrient demand, and ethanol
production in proprietary photobioreactor systems under the
guidance of the Asst. Director of Physiology.
Algenol is a global, industrial biotechnology company that is
commercializing its patented algae technology platform for
production of ethanol and green chemicals. Our patented
DIRECT TO ETHANOL® technology enables the production of
ethanol for less than $1.00 per gallon using sunlight, carbon
dioxide and saltwater, and targets commercial production of
6,000 gallons of ethanol per acre per year. The low production
costs and high yields are achievable because DIRECT TO
ETHANOL® does not involve killing or harvesting algae and
relies on our patented photobioreactors and proprietary
downstream techniques for the low-cost recovery and
purification of ethanol. These novel, low-cost techniques have
the added benefits of consuming carbon dioxide from
industrial sources, not using farmland or food crops.
Responsibilities Include:
1. Design and conduct sound scientific experimental
protocols
2. Participate directly in bioreactor and experiment setup
and execution
3. Perform in-lab analyses
4. Provide sound data assessment and result reports

4. Familiar and experienced with general lab practices, lab
safety rules, and basic scientific equipment for the field
5. Ability to lift heavy weights and to work extended
periods of time outdoors in a hot and humid climate
6. Ability to work independently but integrate well with
small working groups and to cope with a fast pace work
