Assistant/Associate/Full Professor - Physical Oceanography & Hydrodynamic Modeling
As part of its ongoing Strategic Faculty Hiring Initiative (SFHI) with a focus on Water, Michigan Technological University is soliciting applications for a tenure-track position in large-scale hydrodynamic modeling, physical oceanography, or computational fluid dynamics. This position complements four previous SFHI faculty hires and the newly-opened, multi-disciplinary Great Lakes Research Center (GLRC). The GLRC is a 50,000 sq. ft., $25M waterfront facility with state of the art laboratories, marine facilities, and a new super computer facility (see: http://greatlakes.mtu.edu/index.html). In addition to pursuing and funding their own research foci, successful candidates will be able to contribute to interdisciplinary studies of the Great Lakes by implementing hydrodynamic models to study ecological and water quality phenomena. The ability to conduct field or laboratory measurements and experimentation in addition to modeling skills will be viewed positively.
Successful candidates must have earned a doctorate at the time of the application and postdoctoral experience is strongly preferred. Senior level candidates with exceptional records will also be considered. Candidates must demonstrate prior success in obtaining, or evidence of potential to secure, external funding and a commitment to excellence in undergraduate and graduate education.
