This research is under the umbrella of a grant by the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation Microbial diversity and activity in the seasonal hypoxic coastal waters off Central Chile and Oregon: a comparative study. The postdoctoral fellow will work under the supervision of Dr. Silvio Pantoja in the Marine Organic Geochemistry Laboratory at UDEC (www.udec.cl/geoquimica) studying organic biomarkers from the two coastal sites. The laboratory is a unit of the Department of Oceanography and the Center for Oceanographic Research in the eastern South Pacific (COPAS, www.copas.udec.cl) at UDEC. Salary is in the order of US$43,000 per year.
