Systems Engineer - Biofuels
Join our world-class research team in Hawaii to develop biofuels from marine phytoplankton. Your responsibilities: Construct, install, optimize, and test a variety of instruments, devices and processes required for large-scale cultivation of marine phytoplankton. Devices and processes are focused on measuring and controlling physical, chemical and biological variables in seawater. Analyze, interpret, and troubleshoot hardware, electronics, and software. Your qualifications: Education: BS in Physics, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or related fields. Experience: Three (3) years experience in maintenance and troubleshooting of electronic and mechanical instrumentation and devices. Extensive experience with electronic components and boards, and computers. Strong problem solving skills. Skills: Hardware and software integration, and serial and Ethernet data transmission knowledge base. Demonstrated knowledge of soldering, cabling, and oscilloscope use. Ability to perform basic fabrication and use power tools. Demonstrated experience working on collaborative research projects to achieve or exceed expected results under tight and changing deadlines. Ability to follow verbal and written instructions with minimal supervision and to work independently. Excellent interpersonal communication skills. Most desirable: Experience with sophisticated marine instrumentation. Experience with automated data and process control systems, specifically for the measurement of biological, chemical, or physical variables. Programming experience a plus.
