Post doc Biogeochemistry/Ecology of boreal and arctic lake ecosystems
Climate Impact Research Centre (CIRC) undertakes research on how climatic and environmental changes are impacting the environment in the north. CIRC is part of the Department of Ecology and Environmental Science at Umeå University and stationed year-round in Abisko, Kiruna municipality. For more information see the CIRCs homepage: www.emg.umu.se/circ/index_eng.html The successful candidate is expected to collaborate with ongoing aquatic projects at CIRC with focus on boreal and arctic aquatic ecosystems. We therefore particularly acknowledge applications in any of the following topics: 1) use of stable isotopes in carbon cycling and food web research, 2) respiration of organic carbon in different lake habitats, 3) benthic-pelagic coupling, 4) climate impacts on high latitude lakes, 5) terrestrial-aquatic interactions, 6) characterization of organic carbon in clearwater and brownwater lakes. Other research directions of relevance for boreal-arctic aquatic ecosystems could also be considered. The post doc positions are planned for a period of one year with the possibility of a one year extension, starting as soon as possible.
