| DESCRIPTION OF ACTIVITIES AND BACKGROUND | |
I am an aquatic ecologist with a strong interest in environmental studies. I am currently doing a Ph.D in Environmental Sciences at the University of Milan (I), ending in November 2008. The Ph.D program I am enrolled in has given me the opportunity to study in detail some ecological problems concerning freshwater ecosystems . More in detail, my academic background is being focused on river quality assessment, the impact of hydromorphology on benthic invertebrate communities, and on climate change effects on freshwater ecosystems. In this context, I have been involved in several European co-funded projects: FP5 STAR, FP6 Rebecca and FP6 Eurolimpacs. In this context, my research activity has been focused on analysing large dataset to evaluate benthic community response to changes in ecological quality and in climate conditions. Special focus has been addressed on identifying environmental parameters that increase the predictability of benthic distribution.
